Behind the blog...

Hi there! I’m Nitra. And welcome to my little corner of the web.

I created Nitra’s Nook back in 2013 with the intention of helping people with their DIY home decorating needs.  At the time, I was working in “corporate america” as a project coordinator for a construction consultation company.  I loved being a part of the revitalization of buildings in the WNY area, if even in a very small way.

However after the birth of my son in 2012, my desires began to change. I desired to spend more time with him… raising him.  I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t doing all I could as a mother… as a wife… and as a child of God.

In an attempt to better myself, I returned to school and took an online course at Empire State College in ethics. That course helped me clarify concerns about my life, that otherwise would have taken me longer to resolve.

I came to realize that being a working mother didn’t make me a bad mom, and desiring to be a work at home mom didn’t make me a bad employee either. I realized that regardless what path I chose, all I could do is live my life in such a way that on judgement day Jesus will tell me… “well done, my good and faithful servant…”.

Now… I am aware that I cannot “earn” my way into heaven with “good behavior”, no one can. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Salvation… aka eternal life… is a gift given freely to all who believe and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He died on the cross and rose from the dead, to pay a debt we couldn’t pay. He washed away our sins. (Romans 10:9)

Being saved is not about being “perfect”… believe me I am far from it! Being saved is about loving and serving others while following Jesus’s example. (John 13: 15)

My new vision for Nitra's Nook...

I am eager to use my God given gifts & talents to help virtuous women with their home decorating needs. To me a virtuous woman is someone who does all she can to live her life much like the proverbs 31 woman did. (Proverbs 31: 10-31)

I desire to be more than just a point person who delivers a laundry list of items to be checked off to create a beautiful home.  I want to help you decorate your home in a way that is practical, purposeful and productive for you!

I  believe decorating your home is an opportunity to create a refreshing atmosphere for you and your family, to thrive in peace and in joy. I want to help you create a home that is full of lots of love and laughter.. and most importantly, one that fits your family’s lifestyle.

However… if your home’s decor already meets the needs of you and your family, then no more changes are necessary… unless your lifestyle changes.  I believe, it’s far more important to honor God with your finances than to keep up with the Joneses!

If you are interested in creating a home that is pleasing to you and your family… I would love to work with you!
